Undercity Nights marks the fourth and final release under the metroGradient project. Perhaps their most cohesive and polished work to date, this single track album is a highly detailed and thoughtful approach to the dreampunk sound. Undercity Nights pulls heavy influences from cyberpunk while flooding it with a texture-rich dark ambient tone. The evolving and progressive nature of the project is at full force here, shifting in between spacious ambient noise and haunting dream-like soundscapes as the album diverges into an emotional synthetic neon-lit passage. metroGradient makes excellent use of the album's 42 minute run-time, packing it to the brim with fine tuned sequences and detailed inflections, an experience that can only be enhanced with repeated listens.
